Cynthia Hnatko believes in a patient centred approach to health care using individual treatment plans in which the patient is an active participant in all health decisions. Cynthia believes in integrative multi-disciplinary health care, providing treatments that complement the care you may already be receiving from other health care practitioners.
Registered Naturopathic Doctors are required to complete three years of pre-medical studies at a recognized University followed by four years of full-time naturopathic training at an approved college. After graduation, they must pass rigorous regulatory board examinations that are standardized across North America. In Alberta qualified Naturopathic Doctors are registered with the Alberta Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP). Cynthia is also a Registered Nurse and has worked extensively with pregnant women and new parents both in the hospital & communit settings.

a doctor spent over an hour with you? "Typically, the initial consultation takes 1½-2 hours. During this first visit, an in-depth review of your symptoms, general health concerns, lifestyle and medical history takes place.
All new patients must complete a comprehensive intake form before their first appointment. This is an extensive questionnaire that thoroughly covers physical symptoms, medical & treatment history as well as many diet and lifestyle factors.
The goals of the initial consultation are:
- To determine the underlying causes of your chief complaints
- To assess your overall health and vitality
- To identify the most important health issue(s)
- To go over the results of any previously ordered laboratory tests
- To discuss further testing that may be necessary
- To discuss treatment options
- To tailor a treatment plan to meet your specific needs.

Naturopathic treatments can help improve the chances of conception and carrying a healthy pregnancy. Treatments can improve fertility in both men & women and increase the success rate of conventional fertility treatments such as IVF.
Pregnancy Support
Pregnancy complaints including morning sickness, insomnia, anxiety, restless leg syndrome, gestational diabetes, pregnancy induced hypertension, breech presentation & habitual miscarriage can often benefit from Naturopathic treatments.
Cynthia Hnatko is available to work collaboratively with birthing women and their support network (midwife, obstetrician, spouse, family, etc) in offering labour support or doula services to maximize the potential for a positive birth experience. Services may include administering homeopathics or botanicals during labour, acupuncture/acupressure or hands on therapies to assist the birthing process and coping with the discomforts of labour.
A variety of treatments are available to promote a healthy pregnancy, prepare for birth and speed healing following the birth experience.
Pediatrics
Naturopathic medicine can help with a variety of common childhood ailments, including but not limited to: breastfeeding issues, gastrointestinal concerns, colic, allergies, ADD/ADHD, eczema, cradle cap, ear infections and colds & flus. Well child visits are encouraged for routine health assessments to monitor developmental milestones, prevent and treat any arising health concerns, and for guidance with issues such as food introduction, behaviour disorders & sleep problems.
