Clare
Clare Newman In 1999, I was involved in a motor vehicle accident that left me with a debilitating back injury. After many other holistic attempts at relief, my physiotherapist recommended yoga. I lost all flexibility and strength due to the accident and was terrified at the idea of starting yoga. Once I stepped onto my mat, I was astonished at the natural way my body embraced the postures, even backbends. After several years of being a practitioner and focusing on regaining the strength in my back, I enrolled in a teacher-training program to teach others that you can live without back pain. I'm a strong advocate of yoga as a therapy for physical ailments and focus strongly on proper alignment in all of my classes. Yoga has brought me the most powerful of gifts; body awareness, calmness, rhythmic energy, inner peace, grace and freedom. Enjoy all that yoga has to offer and accept all of what yoga is...stillness.
Clare has been a practitioner of yoga for over 13 years with experience in Hatha, Bikram, Anusara, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Kid's yoga and Pre and Post Natal yoga. She studied Iyengar yoga intensively for over 4 years, attending the teacher training program at the Yoga Studio College of Alberta in 2005 (Certified). Clare holds certification through the Yoga Association of Alberta (YAA), Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (ERYT), 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher (200 RYT) and a Pre-Natal Registered Yoga Teacher (PRYT) with the Yoga Alliance. She created Mamata Yoga; a Yoga Alliance Prenatal yoga teacher training program in 2011 and travels all over Canada guiding other teachers the beauty of yoga during pregnancy and postpartum.
Dawn
Dawn McCorry Dawn’s journey in yoga began when she was pregnant with her second son. Wanting to discover a way to be more connected with her body and baby, she found yoga. Within the first few moments of practicing she knew she had found what she was looking for. Not only during her pregnancy, but something that her body and soul had been searching for. Dawn was able to center and clear my mind like never before. She loves how her mind and body are able to just take a break from it all and enjoy the moment. Then taking those lessons with her off the mat in her time with her loved ones, enjoying every fleeting moment. Dawn also suffered from chronic back pain starting in her late teens; yoga alleviated these issues as well. Her yoga practice was integral in her ability to bring a serene and open environment to her labor and deliveries. She had a new found trust and connection to the process that she discovered in her asana and mediation practice. After another pregnancy, and 6 years of practice she decided that she wanted to share all the gifts that yoga has given her. In 2011, Dawn took two teacher training programs which including Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training at Mamata Yoga and her 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher Training both certified through the Yoga Alliance. Dawn brings a calm and loving environment to all her classes; Prenatal, Postnatal, and Hatha. She looks forward to passing on the endless benefits of yoga to you.
Keira
Keira Burgess Intrigued and inspired by all that yoga has to offer, Keira was introduced to yoga by a friend, and hasn't looked back since. With experience as a dancer in her youth, Keira found an immediate comfort in the physical connection of yoga. As her experience with yoga grew, so did her awareness of the beauty of the mental, spiritual, energetic and universal connections that yoga has to offer. Keira loves having the opportunity to guide others along the yogic path towards enlightenment.
Vanessa
Vanessa Pouliot Vanessa Pouliot was first introduced to yoga in 2008 as a self-care technique through the Holistic Health program at Grant MacEwan University. Vanessa's fast-paced lifestyle was full of stress and she rarely found time to spend on one of her main values; personal growth. Upon practicing yoga for the first time, she instantly fell in love! Yoga allows her the opportunity to slow down, appreciate herself, and focus on her growth from a mind-body-spirit perspective. This is the teaching she brings into her classes as she assists her students to find a sense of peace, balance, and connection, while focusing on continual growth.
