Asana Instructor

I have had different career paths and educational experiences over the years but seemed to always grow restless with each path and eventually left in search of something…more. When I signed up to take my first 200-hour Teacher Training I was looking to deepen my own practise and would never have dreamed of actually teaching a “real” yoga class.  Stepping onto my mat that first time at the front of the class never felt so right, everything just clicked, my nerves fell away and I just taught. I haven’t looked back since.

Teaching is a wonderful way to share knowledge and I truly love that aspect of it but what really draws me in and keeps me captivated is the learning that comes from teaching. Every student has taught me something, something about myself or about the way I teach.

I live a fast-paced life as a mom of three that is full of action and adventure, and often feel overwhelmed. It is through yoga, the practise of yoga, the sharing of yoga where I feel truly at peace.

In Her Words

"Don't be afraid to stumble and fall down a little, because often it is doing what scares you the most that offers the greatest rewards" - OTH.

This quote represents my journey with yoga. I have realized that you have to fall to walk, as you have to fall to find your balance. Finding the strength to challenge those fears, doubts, attachments, insecurities, etc. by learning how to let them go, to laugh them off, to find the spontaneous play, and the ease, within the hard work and dedication, has had the most profound effect on my life. Understanding that it is necessary to fall.

Autonomy Instructor

Welcome to this beautiful journey!  I am so happy to be able to share my passion for life and yoga with you! I have practiced and studied the art and science of yoga for the past ten years and finally completed my 200h teacher training under Sara Cueva with Higher Love Yoga Academy in December 2017.  It was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done and at the same time the most rewarding.  Yoga asana is just one eighth of the practice of yoga; a good teacher training delves into the other seven to help bring you closer to your ‘self’ and the beauty of life.

In addition to my RYT200 certificate,  I completed my Yogafit for Warriors 100h training at the end of September 2018.  This training deeply explores yoga as a tool to help calm the nervous system and is designed to help those living with chronic stress, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and trauma.   Mental wellness is extremely important to me and I believe that yoga has indeed provided a path for me in my own struggles with mental health.

I am also a Registered Nurse and have over 10 years of experience working in critical care environments such as ICU, CCU, emergency and Recovery room. These experiences and knowledge allow me to bring the basics of human anatomy to students completing the RYT200 program – a fundamental basis for the beginning yoga teacher to guide safe and competent classes or to simply practice on a deeper level with knowledge of body structure and movement.

Take this journey with us and become connected to our beautiful yoga teacher community. See you on your mat.

Kat Boehm2.jpg

Meditation Instructor

Kat discovered and began sitting silent retreats in 1997. She has spent time in India, Burma and the United States on extended silent retreats with renowned teachers in different Buddhist lineages. Kat constantly evolves and deepens her practice of mindfulness meditation through study, retreats and the continual support of her teachers and community of practitioners. Most recently she has been trained in Cognitive Based Therapy and completed a yearlong meditation program with her core teacher.

The practice of meditation is a gradual process towards the mind’s natural state of clarity and non-reactivity. It is a practice that requires care and curiousity, developing a compassionate understanding of our human life and the possibility to live with awareness and contentment.

Meditation Instructor

Lisa is an RYT 200, accredited through the Yoga Alliance, and is currently studying 500 hrs through Soul Fitness. She has advanced training in Meditation, Yoga for Aging, Trauma, Philosophy and Teen Yoga. She has her 200 hr Meditation Teacher with Lifestyle Meditation.  She is a Usui Holy Fire II Reiki practitioner and also trained under Georgina Cannon for Hypnosis and Past Life Regression.

Hi, I’m Lisa and my yoga journey began in drama class in high school. Our teacher incorporated movements throughout and at the end of every class was the relaxation (aka savasana) – My favourite! Yoga and meditation connected to my heart and in my life’s peaks and valleys it was there for me, sometimes in the background and sometimes right beside me. After completing my 200 hours with Sara at Wellness Within, I wanted to show others how to find this connection. To me, yoga and meditation is a way of coming home, a way of connecting to my true self and I am humbled by being able to help others peel back the layers so that they too can find inner peace and home. I am honored to be your Meditation teacher for your journey!
