What to Expect

RELEASE YOUR BODIES INTERNAL HEALER

Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture is an ancient form of healing that sees disease as a disorder in the body. Treatment is directed toward restoring order by harmonizing the body.

Acupuncture takes the entire person into account and treatment is centred on the person, not the disease. Every person is seen as a unique being and treatment is selected on a personalized level.

Acupuncture promotes natural healing by correcting energy imbalances in the body and restoring a healthy balance of mind, body and renewed vitality. This safe, relaxing, non invasive ancient medicine can offer relief from a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions. Treatment includes one or a combination of the following: fine needles, auricular therapy, the use of heat, electro stimulation, cupping, gua sha and tui na massage depending on the needs of the client.  Nutrition and lifestyle are often discussed to increase the efficacy of treatment.

Elizabeth

Elizabeth is a Registered Acupuncturist and Massage Therapist who has worked at Wellness Within since 2013. She graduated from Grant MacEwan University in 2011 from their 2200hr Massage Therapy program and 3 year Acupuncture program in 2014.

Elizabeth’s journey began when she was working part time as a receptionist at a clinic that offered acupuncture. When she was seven years old, she began to experience tension and migraine headaches, but she knew of no other way to find relief than taking pain medication. After experiencing a ruptured ovarian cyst, the acupuncturist at the clinic educated Elizabeth on the benefits of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as an alternative to medications to help treat headaches and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). Elizabeth decided to give it a try, and the follow up ultrasound 3 months later showed the ovarian cysts almost completely cleared up. She also found that her headaches had decreased significantly in duration, frequency and intensity. This sparked her interest in the modality and the rest is history.

Elizabeth looks forward to working with each and every one of her clients on their journey towards health through massage therapy and acupuncture.
