Become the Pilates Instructor You Wish You Had

A science-based, in-person training designed to build real confidence, deep understanding, and the ability to teach with purpose.

✔ Learn the full classical repertoire + modern movement science
✔ Develop confident cueing through hands-on teaching
✔ Graduate ready to teach — not just certified

 Why Learn from Us

At Wellness Within, we don’t just teach exercises — we teach you how to truly understand the body.

Our training is led by experienced instructors with years of real-world teaching, mentorship, and clinical experience. As a fully integrated wellness center in St. Albert, you’ll learn within an environment that blends movement, rehabilitation, and holistic care.

This means you won’t just memorize choreography — you’ll learn how to see, assess, and support the bodies in front of you with confidence. You’ll develop a deep understanding of how the body moves, how it compensates, and how to teach in a way that actually supports people — not just guides them through exercises. This approach reflects a more modern, movement-based understanding of anatomy, where the body is viewed as an integrated system rather than isolated parts.

Beyond the in-person training, you’ll also gain access to a comprehensive online student portal. This includes exercise demonstration videos, prop tutorials, course materials, and curated scientific research and studies that support our evidence-based approach.

We believe learning doesn’t stop when the day ends — which is why we also foster ongoing connection through group chats, collaborative discussions, and idea-sharing. You’ll have space to ask questions, brainstorm, and learn alongside your peers.

Throughout the training, you’ll also receive one-on-one mentorship and guidance, ensuring you feel supported, confident, and truly prepared to step into your role as an instructor.

This is more than a certification — it’s an immersive, supportive learning experience designed to help you grow, think critically, and teach with purpose.

Prerequisite

A Strong Foundation: Functional Movement & Anatomy

To support deeper learning and real confidence in teaching, all students complete a Functional Movement & Anatomy prerequisite prior to the training.

This is an intentional part of our program design.

By building your understanding of how the body moves before stepping into the Pilates environment, you’re able to spend more in-class time focusing on what truly matters:

  • Movement quality

  • Teaching skills

  • Real-world application

Instead of trying to learn everything at once, you arrive prepared — with a foundation that allows you to fully absorb and apply what you’re learning.

What This Includes

✔ 12-hour Functional Movement & Anatomy course
✔ Focus on movement principles, biomechanics, and muscle function
✔ Designed to directly support your Pilates training experience

Already Have Anatomy Training?

If you have prior anatomy or movement-based education, you may be eligible to challenge the prerequisite through an in-person exam.

✔ Passing grade: 80%
✔ Successful completion waives the course requirement

Why This Matters

This added layer of education doesn’t change the structure of your Pilates training — it enhances it.

You’ll move through the program with greater clarity, stronger understanding, and the ability to connect anatomy directly to movement and teaching.

How You’ll Benefit

No matter where you’re starting from—seasoned instructor or dedicated student—this training is designed to meet you where you are and elevate how you move, understand, and teach.

For Your Personal Growth

This training goes beyond learning exercises — it deepens your connection to your own body.

You’ll build strength, awareness, and confidence while developing a clearer understanding of how movement, breath, and alignment work together.

Expect to feel more grounded, more capable, and more connected — both in your practice and in your everyday life.

For Current Instructors

If you’re already teaching, this training will refine and elevate your skill set.

You’ll learn to cue with greater clarity, adapt movements with intention, and bring a deeper level of precision and purpose into your classes.

This allows you to better support your clients, expand your offerings, and teach with more confidence and impact.

For Aspiring Teachers

If you’re new to teaching, you’ll be guided through every step of the process.

From foundational principles to class design, cueing, and hands-on practice — you’ll develop the skills and confidence needed to step into teaching feeling prepared, supported, and capable.

This isn’t just about learning Pilates — it’s about becoming someone who understands movement on a deeper level and can confidently guide others through it.

"This course was amazing! I didn’t realize how 'deep' Pilates is until now. I've taken yoga trainings before, but this made me feel more connected to my body. Katie’s anatomy instruction was incredible—she explained the pelvic floor better in three weekends than a year of physiotherapy! The emphasis on safety, alignment, and breathwork was so valuable, and I felt completely supported throughout. Katie provided constructive feedback in such a positive way, making it easy to gain confidence in teaching. I’m so excited for Barre and HIIT next!" -Kaitie S.

Course Details + Dates

We offer trainings in both St. Alberta Alberta and Grande Prairie Alberta

Prerequisite: Functional Movement & Anatomy Course

+ Course Details

This course is a prerequisite for instructor trainings with Wellness Within as of the Fall 2026.

The Functional Movement & Anatomy course is a foundational educational experience designed to build a clear, practical understanding of how the body moves. This course bridges anatomy with real-world movement, helping students connect structure to function in a way that is immediately applicable to Pilates, fitness, and mindful movement practices.

Through an integrated, movement-based approach, students will explore the principles of human movement, planes of motion, and essential anatomical terminology. The course provides an in-depth overview of major muscle groups and movement patterns of the neck, shoulders, trunk, hips, and lower body, with emphasis on how these regions work together to support stability, mobility, and efficient movement.

Key concepts such as pelvic placement, core engagement, and breath mechanics are examined in detail. Students will learn how thoracic and diaphragmatic breathing influence posture, stability, and movement quality, and how breath integrates with core activation and spinal support. Rather than memorizing anatomy in isolation, participants will learn to feel, observe, and apply these concepts within movement.

This course is designed for anyone planning to enter a Certification Program through Wellness Within, and also welcomes individuals who simply want a deeper understanding of the body, movement mechanics, and how anatomy informs safe and effective exercise. No previous anatomy education is required—this course is accessible, practical, and intentionally structured to support both aspiring instructors and curious movers alike.

By the end of the course, students will have a strong foundational framework that supports confident learning in future trainings, clearer movement cueing, and a more embodied understanding of how the body functions as an integrated system.
