Trainings Offered in
St. Albert Alberta & Grande Prairie Alberta
“Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.”
A science-based, in-person training designed to build real confidence, deep understanding, and the ability to teach with purpose.
✔ Learn the full classical repertoire + modern movement science
✔ Develop confident cueing through hands-on teaching
✔ Graduate ready to teach — not just certified
At Wellness Within, we don’t just teach exercises — we teach you how to truly understand the body.
Our training is led by experienced instructors with years of real-world teaching, mentorship, and clinical experience. As a fully integrated wellness center in St. Albert, you’ll learn within an environment that blends movement, rehabilitation, and holistic care.
This means you won’t just memorize choreography — you’ll learn how to see, assess, and support the bodies in front of you with confidence. You’ll develop a deep understanding of how the body moves, how it compensates, and how to teach in a way that actually supports people — not just guides them through exercises. This approach reflects a more modern, movement-based understanding of anatomy, where the body is viewed as an integrated system rather than isolated parts.
Beyond the in-person training, you’ll also gain access to a comprehensive online student portal. This includes exercise demonstration videos, prop tutorials, course materials, and curated scientific research and studies that support our evidence-based approach.
We believe learning doesn’t stop when the day ends — which is why we also foster ongoing connection through group chats, collaborative discussions, and idea-sharing. You’ll have space to ask questions, brainstorm, and learn alongside your peers.
Throughout the training, you’ll also receive one-on-one mentorship and guidance, ensuring you feel supported, confident, and truly prepared to step into your role as an instructor.
This is more than a certification — it’s an immersive, supportive learning experience designed to help you grow, think critically, and teach with purpose.
Whether you’re stepping into teaching for the first time or expanding an existing career in movement or health, this training is designed to meet you where you are — and take you further.
This training is ideal for:
✔ Aspiring instructors ready to turn their passion for Pilates into a meaningful, sustainable career
✔ Fitness professionals (yoga, personal training, barre, dance) looking to deepen their knowledge and expand their offerings
✔ Health practitioners such as massage therapists, physiotherapists, and chiropractors who want to integrate Pilates into a more functional, movement-based approach
✔ Dedicated Pilates students who are ready to move beyond the exercises and truly understand the method
✔ Studio owners and leaders committed to offering high-quality, intentional Pilates programming
✔ Anyone seeking a new direction in a field rooted in movement, connection, and long-term wellness
To support deeper learning and real confidence in teaching, all students complete a Functional Movement & Anatomy prerequisite prior to the training.
This is an intentional part of our program design.
By building your understanding of how the body moves before stepping into the Pilates environment, you’re able to spend more in-class time focusing on what truly matters:
Movement quality
Teaching skills
Real-world application
Instead of trying to learn everything at once, you arrive prepared — with a foundation that allows you to fully absorb and apply what you’re learning.
✔ 12-hour Functional Movement & Anatomy course
✔ Focus on movement principles, biomechanics, and muscle function
✔ Designed to directly support your Pilates training experience
If you have prior anatomy or movement-based education, you may be eligible to challenge the prerequisite through an in-person exam.
✔ Passing grade: 80%
✔ Successful completion waives the course requirement
This added layer of education doesn’t change the structure of your Pilates training — it enhances it.
You’ll move through the program with greater clarity, stronger understanding, and the ability to connect anatomy directly to movement and teaching.
No matter where you’re starting from—seasoned instructor or dedicated student—this training is designed to meet you where you are and elevate how you move, understand, and teach.
This training goes beyond learning exercises — it deepens your connection to your own body.
You’ll build strength, awareness, and confidence while developing a clearer understanding of how movement, breath, and alignment work together.
Expect to feel more grounded, more capable, and more connected — both in your practice and in your everyday life.
If you’re already teaching, this training will refine and elevate your skill set.
You’ll learn to cue with greater clarity, adapt movements with intention, and bring a deeper level of precision and purpose into your classes.
This allows you to better support your clients, expand your offerings, and teach with more confidence and impact.
If you’re new to teaching, you’ll be guided through every step of the process.
From foundational principles to class design, cueing, and hands-on practice — you’ll develop the skills and confidence needed to step into teaching feeling prepared, supported, and capable.
Rooted in the original work of Joseph Pilates and grounded in modern movement science, this training takes you from foundational understanding to confident, capable teaching.
You won’t just learn the exercises — you’ll understand the why behind them, and how to adapt them for every body in front of you.
You’ll learn how to apply functional movement and anatomy to every exercise — understanding the why behind the movement and how to adapt it in real time for different bodies, abilities, and goals.
This training honors the precision of classical Pilates while expanding into a modern, functional approach.
You’ll learn how to:
Think critically about movement
Understand how bodies differ
Teach with both structure and adaptability
Because Pilates isn’t one-size-fits-all — and neither are great instructors.
✔ Understand the history, principles, and evolution of Pilates
✔ Confidently teach beginner to advanced Mat classes
✔ Modify exercises safely and effectively for all populations
✔ Cue with clarity, purpose, and confidence
✔ Adapt your teaching in real time
✔ Feel prepared to step into teaching immediately
✔ 100+ Hour Mat Pilates Certification

It created a safe and welcoming environment where I could learn from Katie, myself, and my classmates. I felt 100% supported throughout the course, and I’m so excited to become certified and continue my Pilates instructor journey. Thank you, Katie!" - Melissa M.
"This training was an amazing experience! Katie's attention to detail and support made all the difference. She took the time to answer every question, making me feel heard and confident. Teaching in front of the group was nerve-wracking at first, but it helped me build confidence and made leading a class feel less intimidating. The course also gave me a new level of body awareness—I’m now so much more mindful of core engagement and alignment. Katie’s openness and encouragement were invaluable. I’m so grateful to have been part of this training!" - Vanessa E.
"I'm so happy I completed my Pilates training with Katie! The in-depth guidance and mentorship were invaluable—something I wouldn’t have received in an online or fast-track course. The in-person breakdown of the 34 Joseph Pilates exercises, including breathing and props, was incredibly helpful. Teaching each other also reinforced my learning and allowed me to ask questions. Katie’s support throughout the course made the experience even better. I’m so grateful for this training—thank you!" - Kristina O
"This course was amazing! I didn’t realize how 'deep' Pilates is until now. I've taken yoga trainings before, but this made me feel more connected to my body. Katie’s anatomy instruction was incredible—she explained the pelvic floor better in three weekends than a year of physiotherapy! The emphasis on safety, alignment, and breathwork was so valuable, and I felt completely supported throughout. Katie provided constructive feedback in such a positive way, making it easy to gain confidence in teaching. I’m so excited for Barre and HIIT next!" -Kaitie S.
"Highly recommend the Mat Pilates training with Katie! The program provides a solid foundation, equipping you with the knowledge and confidence to teach Mat Pilates effectively." -Kristina
"Thanks for the awesome Pilates course, it was really awesome and exceeded my expectations!!" - Holly M.
"Katie’s knowledge and breakdown of each exercise made this training incredibly valuable. The detailed manual, practice teaching, and step-by-step movement breakdowns were so helpful in building confidence. I felt fully supported throughout the course, and I really appreciated Katie’s flexibility and encouragement. Her passion for teaching and movement truly shines, making this an amazing learning experience. Thank you for your enthusiasm and for creating such a great training program!" - Natasha B.

Prerequisite: Functional Movement & Anatomy Course
This course is a prerequisite for instructor trainings with Wellness Within as of the Fall 2026.
The Functional Movement & Anatomy course is a foundational educational experience designed to build a clear, practical understanding of how the body moves. This course bridges anatomy with real-world movement, helping students connect structure to function in a way that is immediately applicable to Pilates, fitness, and mindful movement practices.
Through an integrated, movement-based approach, students will explore the principles of human movement, planes of motion, and essential anatomical terminology. The course provides an in-depth overview of major muscle groups and movement patterns of the neck, shoulders, trunk, hips, and lower body, with emphasis on how these regions work together to support stability, mobility, and efficient movement.
Key concepts such as pelvic placement, core engagement, and breath mechanics are examined in detail. Students will learn how thoracic and diaphragmatic breathing influence posture, stability, and movement quality, and how breath integrates with core activation and spinal support. Rather than memorizing anatomy in isolation, participants will learn to feel, observe, and apply these concepts within movement.
This course is designed for anyone planning to enter a Certification Program through Wellness Within, and also welcomes individuals who simply want a deeper understanding of the body, movement mechanics, and how anatomy informs safe and effective exercise. No previous anatomy education is required—this course is accessible, practical, and intentionally structured to support both aspiring instructors and curious movers alike.
By the end of the course, students will have a strong foundational framework that supports confident learning in future trainings, clearer movement cueing, and a more embodied understanding of how the body functions as an integrated system.

Private Mentorship Option
For individuals who are unable to attend our scheduled group trainings due to travel, professional schedules, or unique circumstances, we offer a limited Private One-on-One Mentorship Training option.
This format allows students to complete a Fitness Certification through individualized instruction and mentorship with the program director. The training follows the same curriculum, certification standards, and examination requirements as our group program, including written and practical exams, assignments, and out-of-class hours.
Because private training requires dedicated instructor time and customized scheduling, tuition is higher than our group certification programs. Availability is limited and scheduled based on instructor availability.
If you are interested in completing your certification through private mentorship, please contact us to discuss scheduling options and pricing.
