Trauma Sensitive
The inclusion of a trauma-based introduction and approach in the training focuses on creating a safe and inclusive space for practitioners who may have experienced deep conditioning or trauma. This approach recognizes that individuals with trauma histories may have unique needs and vulnerabilities during their yoga practice. By adopting trauma-sensitive principles, the training seeks to ensure that participants feel supported, empowered, and comfortable during their yoga journey.
A trauma-sensitive approach allows you as a future teacher to creating a safe and non-judgmental environment, offering choices and modifications, providing clear and consensual instructions, and respecting personal boundaries. It aims to avoid triggers and retraumatization, promoting healing, resilience, and self-empowerment.
Program Structure and Module Format
Our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program at Wellness Within is designed to provide a comprehensive and personalized learning experience. The program is structured around a series of weekend modules, each focusing on a specific aspect of yoga practice and teaching. This modular format allows you to complete the training in a way that suits your schedule and personal interests while ensuring a deep and thorough understanding of yoga.
Weekend Modules: How It Works
Weekend Schedule: Each weekend (Saturday and Sunday) is dedicated to one module, offering an immersive experience in that particular area of study. This format enables you to focus intensely on each subject, integrating the knowledge and skills gained before moving on to the next topic.
Mandatory Modules: There are 6 core modules that every student must complete. These mandatory modules form the foundation of your training, covering essential topics such as Anatomy & Physiology, Asana & Alignment, Teaching & Sequencing, Pranayama & Energy Management, Kriya & Kundalini, and Philosophy Vedic Studies.
Optional Modules: In addition to the mandatory modules, you have the flexibility to choose 5 optional modules from a diverse selection, including Mantra & Meditation Techniques, Mudra Elements & Meridians, Ayurveda Sciences, Chakras & Subtle Body, Advanced Asana & Alignment, Advanced Teaching & Sequencing, and Vinyasa Krama. These optional modules allow you to tailor your training to your specific interests and goals.
Fast-Track to Graduation
For those looking to complete the program more quickly, we offer a suggested weekend sequence that covers all 6 mandatory modules and the 5 optional modules in a streamlined, fast-track format. This path is ideal for students who want to immerse themselves fully and graduate within a shorter time frame.
However, if you prefer to take your time or explore different areas of yoga more deeply, you can opt out of certain suggested options and choose alternative modules that resonate with you. This flexibility allows you to create a training experience that is uniquely yours.
Progression Requirements
It’s important to note that our program is designed with a progression system in mind. You must complete Level 1 modules before advancing to Level 2 options. This ensures that you build a solid foundation before diving into more advanced practices and teachings.

Certification Requirements
To complete the 200-hour certification, you must finish all 6 mandatory modules and 5 optional modules, adhering to the progression from Level 1 to Level 2 as required. This flexible approach allows you to manage your time, tailor your education, and ensure that you graduate with a well-rounded and comprehensive yoga teaching certification.

Philosophy Vedic Studies 1 This module provides an in-depth exploration of the ancient Vedic texts and their philosophical teachings. Students will study key concepts from the Vedas, Upanishads, and Bhagavad Gita, focusing on their relevance and application in modern yoga practice and daily life. The course covers the origins of these texts, their historical context, and core principles such as dharma (duty), karma (action), and moksha (liberation). Through lectures, discussions, and reflective practices, students will gain a deeper understanding of the spiritual foundations of yoga, fostering a holistic approach to their teaching and personal practice.
Anatomy + Physiology 1 This module explores the foundational aspects of human anatomy and physiology with a specific focus on their application in yoga practice. Students will study the musculoskeletal system, major organs, and bodily systems, understanding how they interrelate and support movement and function. Key topics include the mechanics of movement, joint function, and the physiological responses to different yoga postures. The knowledge gained will aid in teaching safe and effective yoga classes, recognizing the physical limitations and capabilities of students .
Asana + Alignment 1 In this module, students delve into the art of asana practice, focusing on proper alignment and technique for a variety of yoga poses. The course covers essential postures, their benefits, contraindications, and modifications to accommodate different levels of ability. Emphasis is placed on the principles of sequencing, the use of props, and the development of a balanced practice. Through practical application, students will learn to guide students safely through poses, ensuring alignment and promoting physical well-being .
Teaching + Sequencing 1 This module equips students with the skills needed to design and teach cohesive yoga classes. It covers the basics of class structure, including warm-up, peak poses, and cool-down sequences. Students will learn how to create themes, adjust classes for different skill levels, and integrate counter poses. The art of sequencing is emphasized, with strategies for building classes that progress from simple to complex poses, ensuring a balanced and effective practice for students .
Pranayama + Energy Management 1 Students will explore the vital life force known as prana and its management through the practice of pranayama. This module covers various breathing techniques aimed at expanding and controlling prana to enhance physical, mental, and spiritual health. Topics include the four aspects of breath (inhalation, exhalation, internal and external breath retention), and the benefits of pranayama on the autonomic nervous system. Techniques for reducing stress and promoting relaxation and focus will be a core part of this module.
Kriya + Kundalini 1 This module introduces the transformative practices of Kriya and Kundalini yoga, which aim to accelerate personal evolution and spiritual awakening. Students will learn about the principles and practices of Kriya, learning and experiencing a variety of Kriyas. The module covers the historical and philosophical background of Kriya Yoga, its benefits, and its application in modern practice. Emphasis is placed on preparing the body to handle increased energy flow and achieving a state of unity and totality.

Mantra + Meditation Techniques 1 In this module, students explore the power of sound and its use in meditation. The course covers various mantras, their meanings, and their vibrational impacts on the mind and body. Techniques for integrating mantra into meditation practices will be taught, aiming to deepen concentration, enhance spiritual growth, and cultivate inner peace. Practical sessions will allow students to experience the calming and transformative effects of these practices.
Mudra Elements + Meridians 1 This module focuses on the subtle aspects of yoga involving mudras (hand gestures) and their influence on the body's energy pathways (meridians). Students will learn about different mudras, their purposes, and how they can be used to balance and direct energy. The course includes an introduction to the meridian system, understanding its role in physical and energetic health, and how yoga practices can support this system.
Ayurveda Sciences 1 Students will be introduced to the ancient science of Ayurveda, focusing on its application in daily life and yoga practice. This module covers the basic principles of Ayurveda, including the doshas (body types), diet, lifestyle recommendations, and seasonal routines. Students will learn how to incorporate Ayurvedic principles to enhance health and well-being, and tailor yoga practices to individual needs based on Ayurvedic assessments.
Chakras + Subtle Body 1 This module delves into the study of the chakras (energy centers) and the subtle body, exploring their significance in physical and spiritual health. Students will learn about the seven main chakras, their functions, and how to balance them through yoga practices, meditation, and visualization techniques. The course will provide insights into the interplay between the physical and energetic bodies, promoting a holistic approach to yoga and wellness.
Asana + Alignment Level 2 In this 2nd level module, students delve deeper into the art of asana practice, expanding on what they learned in level 1, learning new poses and postures, while expanding on the familiar.
Teaching + Sequencing Level 2 This module takes the skills needed to design and teach cohesive yoga classes one step further. It expands on the basics of class structure, themes, modifications learned in level 1.
